Aspiring Author. Nature Lover. Amateur Ninja.

Hello! Hello!

My name is Laura. Welcome to my blog! Here you will find my reviews on the current books I’m reading as I learn the to-do’s (and not to-do’s) of becoming an author. After a relentless pursuit of exploring my passion and purpose, working various jobs, and acquiring different degrees, I realized that my love of writing and reading never left my side. So here I am, reading from those who have done what I dream to do, take the stories swirling in my head and sharing them with the world. Most of the books reviewed on this sight will be cozy mysteries because those are the tales I want to tell…but more on that later. Before I present you with my thoughts on literature, here is a little about what makes me, well, me:

I am a wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. My family is my rock. In fact, I get my literary prowess from my mother, an author in her own right. For years I have rolled my eyes and resisted the fact that I am turning into my mother, but here I am, following in her footsteps. If I’m honest, there are no better footsteps to follow…but don’t tell her (or my brothers) that. I am also here because of my husband; he has done nothing but support and encourage me through all my crazy ideas and endeavors. He’s my hot cup of coffee on a blistery winter day. I don’t deserve his goodness.

I’m a product of the 90’s and early 2000s. I grew up on the likes of PBS’s Wishbone (see a theme here?), The Magic Treehouse book series, and Disney Channel original movies. My first crush was Luke Skywalker, followed closely by Shang from Mulan. I’ve loved animals all my life and owned enough Beanie Babies to make me a millionaire (still holding on to the hope that investment will pay off). I spent most of my high school career with my nose in a book, much like Rory from Gilmore Girls. I guess I was setting myself up for a lifelong love of books and story telling without even knowing it.

I love hiking, Murder, She Wrote marathons, and the wild man known as Jesus. After college, I returned to my childhood hobby of training to be a ninja, much to my body’s objections. My favorite place in the world is on the deck of my family’s Colorado cabin breathing in the cool mountain air, book in one hand, a cup of coffee in the other. If I could live in a Bob Ross painting with my husband and a puppy, I would be living the dream. Oh, and there better be a horse nearby too. It’s not too much to ask, right?

There I am in a few simple paragraphs. Thanks for reading and stopping by! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some reading and reviewing to do.
